Arsenal have tied up promising teenager Jack Wilshere on a new long-term contract as the Gunners continue to look to the future.
Wales international Aaron Ramsey, 18, on Wednesday agreed an extension to his deal, and the Premier League club have been quick to also secure the potential of Hertfordshire-born Wilshere, at the club since he was just nine.
Manager Arsene Wenger rates the England youth international highly.
Wilshere signed professional terms when he turned 17 on New Year's Day and had became the youngest player to represent Arsenal in both the league and in European competition when making his first-team breakthrough last season.
He was also an integral member of Arsenal's FA Youth Cup winning side, and looks set for a bright future at Emirates Stadium.
Wenger said: "It is such great news that Jack has signed a new long-term contract.
"Jack made great progress last season, playing at Under-18s, reserves and first-team level and we all witnessed what a great young talent he is."
Wenger added on the club's official website: "At still 17 years of age, the potential is huge for Jack and we are all delighted he has committed his long-term future to Arsenal."

"When I see this lad play, and I have seen him play a lot, he reminds me of so many stars of the past and one of the present, Liam Brady, Paul Scholes, Paul Gascoigne and Wayne Rooney, now that isn't a bad bunch is it, each one of them would walk straight into any team on the planet, back to Wiltshire, he has all the ingredients to become one of the greatest players this country has produced in recent years, I just hope that it doesn't go to his head, I have been told by a friend at the club that he will replace Fabregas in the heart of the team either next season or the season after that."

"Great. The guy will be top class in 3 to 5 years time. And now, what about some reinforcements for next season?"

"He's a fanstastic talent and if Theo doesn't actually realise his potential as a forward, I can see he'll be unhappy as a winger in a couple years time because he'll definitely be playing second fiddle to Wilshire by then.

"Excellent talent this lad! I think he needs to go on loan to a prem team for a season to get a bit more experience though, perhaps a smaller team than you lot... Maybe a New prem team... From Birmingham!?"
