Nelson happy to snub Premier move

Benfica defender Nelson has revealed that he has no interest in leaving Portugal for the Premier League.

Nelson: Interest from England

The former Portuguese Under-21 international has attracted interest from a host of English clubs, with Aston Villa believed to have already made enquiries as to his availability.

However, the full-back insists that he is happy at Estadio da Luz and has no desire to seek a new challenge abroad.

"I can confirm that I have received two offers, but I am happy in Lisbon, and the people are happy with me," he said.

"Benfica is the club in my heart and me priority is to always do my best for Benfica."

Should Nelson be tempted into a summer switch then it is thought that a bid of around 15million euros (£12million) would be enough to prise him away from the Eagles.

"Holte_Hero, afraid that I agree with Jazza - I've heard good things about this Leicester lad and he's real hot prospect."

jazza0707 (Aston Villa fan)

"Well excuse me, holte_hero, but i'd rather not spend 12 million on Portugals 4th choice right back. Yes thats right FOURTH, behind Ferreira, Miguel and Bosingwa. And anyway, what happened when we finally did splash out under Ellis? Hadji, Baros et al. There's nothing wrong with looking at the cheaper option if they are of the right quality. Stearman has twice been young player of the year and this season was voted Leicesters players player of the year and fans player of the year. The lad is a top prospect and would fit in great with the rest of our home grown British talent."
