Darren Moore has reassured Fulham and Birmingham fans by insisting he "wouldn't sleep at night" if Derby rolled over for Reading on Sunday.
The Rams' relegation may have been confirmed weeks ago but they still have a say in who comes down with them.
Steve Coppell's side travel to Pride Park knowing even a victory may not be enough to save them if Fulham beat Portsmouth.
Birmingham, who face Blackburn, are in even deeper trouble as they trail Reading and Fulham by a further point.
Centre-back Moore insists it would be an "injustice" if County, who have won just once in 37 Premier League games, were to give anything but 100%.
He said: "I'm hearing things in the press that Manchester United are just going to roll over Wigan but it doesn't work like that because you're professional players and you conduct yourselves in the right manner.
"It's the same scenario up there as it is with us, t it would be an injustice not just for me personally but Birmingham fans, Fulham fans and Derby County fans. That just isn't going to happen.
"I would expect the same thing if Derby were going to Reading on the final day of the season. I would never expect Reading to just roll over and let us take the three points.
"No chance, despite the situation we are in."
Eyebrows may have been raised when a member of the Derby defence which has conceded 85 times in the league this term was named player of the year.
But in reality, devout Christian Moore's committed displays have ensured he is one of the few County players to come out of the season with any credit.
"I always say when I go out there I have to give 100%, but trust me, I wouldn't sleep at night if I didn't do it," he added. "You're doing yourself and everyone else an injustice.
"That's why when you go over that white line it's time to work until that referee blows the whistle for the end of the game.
"Then it's onto the next match and the next match.
"That's the way I've just gone about this season because, even though things haven't gone well for us, for me as an individual I have always gone out there and maintained that 100% commitment.
"One day, when God decides to pull down the curtain on my career, I want to be able to turn around and say 'I gave that everything' and I can bow out gracefully."
