Birmingham midfielder Mehdi Nafti could miss City's next three matches after it emerged he has torn his hamstring.
The Tunisian midfielder was taken off just before half-time in Blues' 2-1 win over Southampton on Saturday.
"Scans have shown that Mehdi has got a Grade One tear," City manager Alex McLeish told the club's official website. "It's a very small tear and Tim Williamson (physiotherapist) says it's not too bad.
"It's high up the hamstring where the muscle meets the tendon. Tim thinks (he may be out for) a couple of weeks, so that's a blow for us."
Blues face Championship matches against Barnsley and Norwich over the next two Saturdays, with a Carling Cup tie at St Mary's in between.
Nafti scored the opening goal, his first for the club, in City's 4-0 win over Wycombe in the first round of the League Cup.
