The 21-year-old forward has been brought on to play out wide for Blues in the opening fixtures, and faces a tough battle to nail down a central spot with so many strikers at the club.

Jerome admits he would prefer a return to his favoured position, but says his main concern is making sure he gets on the pitch.

He told the Birmingham Mail: "I don't really enjoy it (on the wing) to be honest, but I just want to play football, and if I'm playing either way I suppose I can't moan.

"There's competition for places, so you have to go where the manager says. It's an experience for me in a different position, but sometimes you've just got to knuckle down and do what's asked.

"I would like to be involved more, and I would like to play through the middle, but it doesn't always go your way sometimes. The main thing is that as long as I'm playing and involved, I'm happy."
