Murphy backs Blues for promotion

Defender David Murphy believes Birmingham should have "no problems" in gaining automatic promotion this season if they can stay injury-free.

The Blues are third place in the league after taking 10 points in their opening four fixtures.

Murphy told the club's official website: "We have certainly got a strong enough squad to sustain a promotion bid.

"Obviously you need that little bit of luck with injuries but if we can stay injury-free then I see no problem with us getting automatic promotion."

Despite the differing challenges of Championship football, Murphy is also pleased with the way the Blues have adapted.

"The Championship is more route one and high balls into the box but I think we're forcing our game on to other teams," he added.
