Mamam comes out of Blues shadows

Birmingham have finally revealed that their mystery trialist is former Manchester United trainee Souleymane Mamam, who is available on a free.

It had previously been known a mystery trialist had scored for Blues in two recent behind-closed-doors friendlies against Aston Villa and Northampton.

But he has now been revealed to be 23-year-old right-sided midfielder Mamam, a former Manchester United player who is a free agent having left Belgian side Royal Antwerp in the summer.

The Togo international will now be given another chance to impress when Blues face Manchester City's reserves next Tuesday, with boss Alex McLeish then making a decision on his future.

"He's been with us a while and he's still training with us. We've a game next week and we'll make a decision after that," McLeish told the Birmingham Mail.

"We have been impressed with his touch, he's a clever player. I'm not sure how dynamic he can be but he can take a touch with his back to play, he can take the ball. He looks athletic enough to get out from the midfield, like Larsson and Agustien were able to do at the weekend in that kind of three against QPR."

"why is he talkin to the press about this? we had the brazillian mineiro training with us, cud've signed him but went to the press about it and then chelsea signed him 2 play in their reserves. we always do this"

"To be fair, if he's any good, why is he training with us !! ? lol"

"why on earth did mcleish tell everyone who this guy was!!!!! a week before making a decision. im sorry but that is idiotic!! and typically stupid Blues behaviour. it alerts everyone else now to the fact that this guy is good, and they will all come sniffing and we'll lose him...we only had to wait another week or more, we'd waited ages so another week wouldnt have hurt..it almost makes me think they do it on purpose to make it look like they're serious and thinking big, when all that ever happens is let downs...moan over...just wish we acted like a pro football club to be proud of, instead of one that keeps making us look dumb"
