PSG: We won't break bank for Vieira

Antoine Kombouare has confirmed Paris Saint-Germain's interest in Patrick Vieira but warned he will not pay too much for the Birmingham target.

The future of the 33-year-old midfielder remains shrouded in doubt as he no longer commands a regular first-team place for Inter Milan.

Some reports suggest Nerazzurri coach Jose Mourinho is ready to offload Vieira this summer and, if that is the case, the former Arsenal man could return home to France or move back to the Premier League, with Birmingham said to be interested.

PSG claim to have held talks with the France captain, who is keen to impress ahead of next summer's World Cup finals in South Africa but Kombouare has reiterated that money could be a stumbling block.

When asked by Le Parisien if he would like to sign Vieira, the PSG boss replied: "Of course, but not at any price. I have already made a heavy investment for the club with (Mevlut) Erding and (Gregory) Coupet.

"The president (Sebastien Bazin) said there would be no more than the budget for recruitment. We will have to sell to finance more."

"We had the chance to get Valencia when Brucey was here..and missed out, will be a great signing..but come on..youve lost Ronaldo??you cant replace that kind of talent..

Stop picking on us new boys, and concetrate on retaining your title with the squad you have ( if you keep hold of them / keep them fit ) (i.e Owen,Hargreaves) KRO"

"very funny - Man U fans accuse us of signing a name and a has been and then go for MICHAEL OWEN

very very funny - That Man U fans feel the need to come on here giving abuse in the first place and a little embarrassing for them!! Why are you on the Birmingham City page?? Then again having lost your best player/all transfer targets to Real Madrid you probably have more in common with us now than most of Europes elite. Never mind eh - keep giving abuse to the 'little' clubs - that will make you feel better......."

"if your manager had any ambition, he'd be buying players for the long run, building from the ground up, complimenting the players he's already got, not forking out for a Name!...i.e. the way Sir Alex has done time after time"

MICHAEL OWEN??? so is that building from the ground?

piss off back to deepest surrey you Man Ure Scum!!"

"LEG END...Man U fans gotta be scared..replaced Ronaldo and Tevez with what looks like Valencia and Owen..haha"

gaclarke212 (Birmingham City fan)

"Makes me laugh all the man u fans slagging us off, who you buying today?? MICHAEL OWEN!!!

I wouldn't want him at blues!!!! You lot cant even attract a single top name player anymore, say goodbye to vidic aswell soon! KRO"

shazzgidman (Manchester United fan)

"1. Man Utd will never buy Patrick Viera because they don't need him.

2. I think he'll fit in well in Birmingham City because at his age he'll never be able to keep himself fit or have the stamina to play in the Champions League.

3. This year in the Premier League and then the next 2-3 seasons in the English League Championship (with Birmingham City) and then finally retire.

- Great way to end his career."

TEESSIDER (Middlesbrough fan)

"Wow, drtrumen, why have u decided to slag off the brummies all of a sudden? I think they well do well this season. Good luck Birmingham! "
