Shroot cuts Brewers loan deal short

On-loan forward Robin Shroot has cut short his loan spell at Burton Albion and returned to Birmingham despite agreeing a season-long deal.

The original arrangement between the two clubs intended for the 21-year-old to remain at the League Two club until the end of the season.

However, following talks between the player and management staff at the Pirelli Stadium it was deemed in the 'best interests of both parties' that the deal was ended prematurely.

The deal will be formally cancelled on January 1 when the transfer window reopens. Although Shroot will still technically be on loan at Burton Albion until that time, he will no longer train with or play for the Football League newcomers.

A statement on the Brewers' official website said: "Burton Albion would like to thank Robin Shroot for his efforts and wish him the best for his future career.

"The club would also like to thank Birmingham City and look forward to any future dealings."
