Rovers boss set to deal in Fowler

Blackburn manager Paul Ince has revealed that Rovers are close to agreeing a deal with veteran striker Robbie Fowler.

Fowler: Set for deal

Fowler has been training with Rovers all summer after leaving Championship side Cardiff.

Ince is keen to have Fowler at Ewood Park and he believes his former Liverpool team-mate can still hack it in the Premier League.

"We are close to doing something with Robbie. He's been different class in training in the last few days," said Ince.

"Robbie is a Premier League goalscorer and he always will be, but the only issue is getting his sharpness back."

Blackburn are believed to be ready to offer the 33-year-old an initial six-month deal which could become a permanent deal if he impresses Ince.

"Many has condemned Blackburn when Paul Ince was appointed as Manager. Last weekend, we see Blackburn got a Away Win with a Team that is shouting for Champion League Football for many seasons. As I mentioned before, SAF take many years to bring success to ManU, why not give Ince some time before condemning him? Now, about Robbie Fowler, what is so bad about Fowler beside his injuries that keep him out of play? "

"Form is transient, class is permanent."
