Davis fires Pompey parting shot

Bolton midfielder Sean Davis says he joined Bolton because he felt he was not appreciated by the Portsmouth hierarchy at Fratton Park.

The midfielder joined Wanderers on a free transfer on Wednesday, six months after Pompey rejected a £3.5million bid for the midfielder from the same club.

Wanderers boss Gary Megson snapped up the 29-year-old on a three-year deal after his contract with the south coast side expired.

However, 29-year-old Davis blamed uncertainty at Fratton Park for his decision to switch Premier League clubs.

He told Sky Sports News: "The deal could have been sorted in January. (Then manager) Tony Adams offered me a deal but they kept mucking me about on little things and we couldn't agree on anything.

"The contract ran out and I didn't hear anything, so I thought I'd go somewhere I'd be appreciated.

"When I say appreciated I don't mean anything against the (Portsmouth) fans, they were great to me, always behind me, the atmosphere was great and they were one of the special things there.

"But upstairs I didn't feel appreciated enough. The contract could have been sorted months ago."

Portsmouth have yet to confirm a permanent management team for next season, after Paul Hart and Brian Kidd took charge over the closing months of the season following Adams' dismissal.

Noe Pamarot, Lauren, Glen Little, Djimi Traore and Jerome Thomas have all been released this summer, while the future is unclear for out-of-contract captain Sol Campbell.

However, Davis - a former England Under-21 international, added: "There is no bitterness - I'm a Bolton player now.

"After I spoke to the manager there was only one decision - to join Bolton Wanderers.

"I don't want to dwell on it too much. You've got to move on and I'm looking forward to a fresh start."
