Chris Powell has revealed his goal against Coventry in Charlton's 4-1 win on the last day of the season "brought tears to my eyes".
The 38-year-old, whose future at the Addicks currently hangs in the balance, scored for just the third time in 270 appearances at The Valley on Sunday in what could prove to be his last game for the club.
The former England international, who has enjoyed three spells in South London, has also rubbished reports he is ready to hang up his boots and concentrate solely on his role as chairman of the PFA.
"To come on in midfield, where I have played only five or six times in my career, and then to score, was totally surreal and bizarre. It was, and still is, hard to put into words and brought tears to my eyes," he told Charlton's official website.
"It will be such a great memory for myself and everyone; I'm sure people will be saying in years to come 'I was there when he scored in his last game'.
"However, I feel I've still got a bit left playing-wise and retirement is not on the agenda for me."
