The 23-year-old, who is currently on international duty with Ghana, agreed the one-year extension after recovering from the knee injury which ended his last campaign prematurely.

Dickson, who was snapped up by Addicks boss Alan Pardew from Dulwich Hamlet for an initial £35,000 in March 2007, has made two substitute appearances so far this season.

"Negotiations had been ongoing for a while now, but I'm glad we have all come to an agreement which keeps me at the club for an extra year," he told the club's official website.

"The gaffer has clearly shown faith in me by offering me a new deal and now is the time for me to start repaying him, the club, and most importantly, the fans, who have continued to support me."
