Charlton manager Alan Pardew has hailed the impact made by new midfielder Nicky Bailey since his arrival at The Valley.
Bailey, who arrived in south-east London from Southend for an initial £400,000, put in a superb performance as the Addicks won a thrilling televised clash with Reading 4-2 on Saturday.
"Bailey was outstanding," said Pardew.
"He's jumping up a division and he's not that long out of non-league football so we've taken a big gamble on him.
"It's the only money I'm going to spend but he's lived up to every penny of the £400,000. He was brilliant for us."
