Baines: Fellaini injury is big blow

Leighton Baines is awaiting news from the treatment room on Everton team-mate Marouane Fellaini following his injury at Anfield.

The Belgium international midfielder was due to undergo an ankle scan after coming off worse in the tackle which earned Liverpool's Sotirios Kyrgiakos a red card on Saturday.

Initial X-rays showed there was no break and Baines is keeping his fingers crossed in the hope that Fellaini will not be sidelined for too long.

"He's such an influential player now and losing him was a massive loss," the left-back told the Liverpool Echo.

"Losing him during a game was even harder because we didn't really have anyone who can do exactly what he can do at the moment.

"We're waiting to see how bad his injury is but it's more than likely that he will miss a few games.

"But at least we've got time to plan and make other arrangements if he's not going to be in the side for a few weeks."
