England coach Fabio Capello is ready to meet with Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher in a bid to tempt them both out of international retirement.
Scholes, 33, quit England after Euro 2004 - whilst Carragher, 30, gave up international duty in 2007.
Both players are continuing to perform at the top of their game for their clubs, Manchester United and Liverpool, and the Italian is keen to have them both available to him.
"There are players that don't want to be part of England like Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher. They are very good players and the door is always open," Capello told The People.
"But you can't force anyone to play for you.
"The most important thing is for the players to love the shirt and want to play for the shirt. It is down to them."

"Zendenling - It still amazes me how many Chelsea fans out there cant see past their own self-centred lineup. as a liverpool fan and a realist, i can accept JC hasnt played particularly well when playing for England, certainly nowhere near what he's capable of. but at the same time, he hasnt been given the pleasure of 'knowing' that he's Englands first choice centre back, unlike John Terry who's been unconditionally granted with that privilege for a number of years now. Its understandable that JC got out of the England setup when he did, only if because at that time, the team wasnt picked on merit, it was picked on the standard big names, john terry being one of them, when clearly, at that time JC was the best centre back in the country, that is fact. yet he still wasnt in the England setup. Capello has come in with very few pre-conceptions, and its showed. People like Barry have been given the chance they deserve, and, for whatever reason has been so much better than Lampard has been for a long time in an England shirt. Grr. It would be an error for Paul Scholes to even attempt to play for England again, handy as a bench-warmer maybe, but thats it. I truly hope Chelsea get taught a lesson by Man utd (hurts to say) in the CL final, abramovich then cuts his losses, takes his money out, Chelsea to get relagated next season haha!"

"Jenkins_YWNA - Maybe you should shut your mouth and see lampard stats in england and chelsea. And about scholes, what has he done so far? just because he is great at the past doesnt mean he is capable of playing with great fitness? John terry is overrated? pls watch back EURO 2004, Qualifying WC and WC2006. He is the type of player that would give out everything in order to win. Perhaps you should watch more football and put rational comments here. Im sad that you're a liverpool fan because you doesnt look like one with your humourous comments. "

"yes plaese bring scholes back!!!! and JC that might just kick that fat useless Frank Lampard out of the team!!! and honestley apart from the predicatable chelsea fans is John Terry not the most overated defender ever!!! all he can do is head the ball, all be it very well, but that is it!!! the only side to his game!!!Carragher and scholes would definately teach the people who expect to walk into the team without playing well for england that they simply have to put the england performances in to get in not just for club!!!
