Albelda remains unsure of future

Reported Liverpool and Tottenham target David Albelda admits he is unsure what the future holds after being recalled to the Valencia squad.

The 30-year-old was frozen out of the side by Ronald Koeman last term and became involved in a legal dispute with the club as he looked for a free transfer and compensation.

Valencia looked set to let him go this summer but Koeman was sacked towards the end of the season and there has since been a change of regime.

New coach Unai Emery has not yet told Albelda whether he figures in his plans and the midfielder is in the dark as to what might happen next.

"It is strange and different to every other, but it does not upset me to be here in Valencia because it is what I have always wanted since I was very young," Albelda told AS.

"After the situation last season though, it does seem odd."

"To be honest, I thought that at the end of last season I would not be coming back because the club had told me that they were looking to sell me and were not counting on me. Now I am waiting to see what happens.

"I thought that everything would be solved before now. We have had all summer and I thought a deal would be done, but the market is only really moving now that the European Championships have finished.

"Now I am going to listen to Unai. He is treating me like any other player at the moment, but we need to sit down and talk and find out what he wants."

Albelda has been linked with Tottenham, Liverpool Barcelona and Real Madrid in the past.

However, with Valencia asking for a large fee, the interested clubs stood back and hoped that he would be given his wish to leave on a free.

Albelda explained: "They were asking 3million euros (£2.4million) for me, but teams who have that money prefer to bet on a player who is 26 or 27, not someone who is 30.

"I always wanted and planned to retire here, but the last thing I was told was that an exit was being sought for me and nobody has told me anything different since.

"Independently from what happens, my love for this club will never diminish. My problem was never with the club, but with a few individuals.

"I feel at home here and to go to another club, I would have to reach a good deal."

"Oh my goddddd! this is gettin stupid. we have one of the best central midfeilds in the prem but we're still always linked with central midfeilders!"

Robbie_Loco (Liverpool fan)

"Why are we even talking about these random geezers. We should be pursuing young talented players - Downing or Bentley would be ideal and Incey at least would not be talking cloud cuckoo land money unlike Martin (I love LSD) O'Neil. "
