The Reds travel to France struggling in Group E and a defeat at the Stade Gerland, having lost to the Ligue 1 side at Anfield, would almost certainly mean elimination.

But Kuyt, who joined Liverpool the season after the famous 2005 European Cup win, remains confident and points to previous experiences.

In the 2007/08 season Rafa Benitez's side were forced to win their last three group games to progress and promptly produced the goods, including an impressive 4-0 win at Marseille after losing to the French side on Merseyside.

"Do we want revenge? Of course we want revenge. Our next game is there and we definitely have to win," he said in the Daily Star about Lyon.

"They are a good team with some quality players but we have beaten good teams away from home before.

"We've beaten Marseille, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan away in the last few years. We have nothing to fear.

"People may have written us off but it doesn't matter what people are saying. We need to win our last three games. We will try to win everyone. We'll never give up."
