Four players from Champions League winners Barcelona are among the 10 finalists in the running for the Ballon d'Or named by France Football.
Favourite Lionel Messi was joined on the shortlist by team-mates Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who joined the club in the summer from Inter Milan.
Samuel Eto'o, who scored Barcelona's opening goal in their 2-0 Champions League win over Manchester United in May before moving to Inter as part of the deal which took Ibrahimovic to the Nou Camp, is also among the final 10.
Three players from the Premier League are in the final shortlist, Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard and Chelsea frontman Didier Drogba.
The remaining places are filled by two of Real Madrid's summer signings, last year's winner Cristiano Ronaldo and Brazil international Kaka.
The winner of the award, which determines the best player in European football that year and is decided by a poll of football journalists compiled by France Football, will be revealed on Tuesday.
Liverpool striker Fernando Torres finished 11th in the voting, Cesc Fabregas 12th, Ryan Giggs 14th and Thierry Henry 15th from the original 30-man shortlist named last month.
Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic finished joint 16th, Andrey Arshavin and Frank Lampard joint 21st and John Terry joint 26th.
Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery only came 29th.

"don't see how kaka is on this list and ibrahimovic is a joke I am utterly amazed that a player who never made in impact last season in european competition can get the nod ahead of players like lampard and vidic. the problem with it being awarded by a bunch of writers is that too often they have become embroiled in their own babblings and forgotten that actually some players on this list have had very average seasons."

"i think xavi deserves it, hes untouchable"

"Let's be honest...this is firstly an award/shortlist for the standout ballers for club and country regardless of position, as long as the choices are obvious for all to see...secondly it is an award for those instrumental at multiple or major trophy winning sides...thirdly it is generally an offensive players award as defenses at trophy winning sides on the whole have little to do in comparison to those at lower quality sides...and finally it is an award for those who deliver the big performances in the biggest games. Not my opinion but I guess there is the argument that the shortlist is based on who makes the most headlines/backpages. On this occasion Messi has completely and utterly dominated all who stood in his way, was instrumental in cleaning up club football, had shown immense ability and performed in the biggest games. However Ronaldo is the benchmark and no doubt the standout offensive player in world football...Xavi and Iniesta's efforts last season were magic and for either along with Ronaldo to get any of the spots from 2nd to 4th would be well justified. As a United fan I can't let it go unmentioned that along with Ronaldo, Rooney was the most instrumental of versatile offensive players and Vidic was even moreso an instrumental defensive player for a record breaking side that were one game(FA Cup final) and 5 wins(Charity Shield, Super Cup final, FA Cup semi, FA Cup final and the Champions League final) from playing every game and picking up 7 titles, of which the PL was successfully defended for the 3rd time back to back, the CL final was reached again back to back for the first time and the Carling Cup as well as the World Club Cup were won."

"what on earth is kaka doing there? he shouldnt even make the top 30 let alone the top 10! I thought this was an award given for performances in the last year not career wise or potential!"

"Main criticism of these choices is that Torres is not top 10. And thats not bias cos im a Liverpool fan. Its just plain facts that if your looking for the best players Torres leaves Rooney lacking far behind in terms of all round quality. "
