Eriksson: Still in charge, for now
Eriksson: Still in charge, for now

Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson brought his squad - missing numerous first-team regulars - from Bangkok, following Saturday's humiliating 3-1 loss to Thailand Premier All-Stars.

City meet a South China Invitational XI on Thursday in an exhibition match, with Juventus playing South China on the same evening.

Amid continued speculation that his spell at the club could be ended by owner Thaksin Shinawatra, Eriksson was guarded on his arrival, saying only: "I'm pleased to be here and that's it."

Eriksson and Thaksin met on a number of occasions in the Thai capital, putting on a public show of unity at the opening of a club store and a number of engagements with sponsors, but it has not been confirmed if the pair have met to discuss footballing matters.

Meanwhile, the club revealed they are exploring a number of options, including football and rugby league grounds, as possible hosts of the home leg of their UEFA Cup first qualifying round tie in July - the pitch at Eastlands is due to be relaid in June.

However, Eastlands has not been ruled out completely, particularly if the first leg is away.
