Manchester City manager Mark Hughes believes Shaun Wright-Phillips can make a big impact for England after his recall to the national team.
The 26-year-old winger has been called up for the World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Belarus, eight months after winning the last of his 19 caps.
It is reward for a string of good performances following his £9million return to City from Chelsea in August.
Wright-Phillips has weighed in with four goals and caught the attention of England manager Fabio Capello in the process.
Hughes expects his man to rise to the challenge.
"Shaun's quick and is experienced at international level. His recall is justified and it won't faze him in any way, shape or form," he told the club's website.
"He came back here a much better player, with more experience, and he understands what it takes to affect a game.
"Shaun is also a great guy who works extremely hard for his team-mates and his work ethic is without question. Mr Capello has recognised those qualities and that's why he is back in."
Hughes added: "We are absolutely delighted for him, it is just reward for an outstanding start he has made to the resumption of his City career.
"He came back to a club he knows well, he is playing with a smile on his face and everyone is benefiting."
Meanwhile, Hughes is looking to bring in some fresh faces when the transfer window re-opens in three months.
With substantial funds available following the takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group, the Welshman is in a better position than most of his counterparts.
However Hughes is anxious to maintain a degree of stability in a transitional period for the club.
City have lost three of their last four league games and went down 3-2 to Liverpool on Sunday.
Hughes said: "It is still early in our development as a team and we are doing a lot of good things.
"We would have preferred to go into the international break on the back of a positive result, so it was a harsh lesson from Liverpool.
"We will be looking to strengthen in January but for the moment we will address the things we are not great at."
City will resume against Newcastle on October 20 without defender Pablo Zabaleta, who was sent off against Liverpool for a poor tackle on Xabi Alonso.
