Foster still expects United loan exit

Ben Foster is still expecting to spend some time on loan away from Manchester United despite making his debut for the Red Devils this weekend.

Foster: Impressed on full United debut

With Edwin van der Sar injured and Tomasz Kuszczak suspended against Derby on Saturday, Foster was handed his United debut between the sticks.

Despite impressing in the slender 1-0 success over the lowly Rams, Foster has no thoughts of finishing the season as the club's No.1.

The former Watford loanee does not think it would be right to be bumped ahead of either keeper in the Sir Alex Ferguson's pecking order, although he is still keen to play first-team football.

"I've only been back from injury two weeks and I was delighted to get the game, but I'm not looking to overtake the other guys," said Foster.

"If I was Edwin van der Sar or Tomasz Kuszczak and I was being kept out of the team I'd be very disappointed.

"I don't expect to be in the team. I may have to go out on loan for the rest of the season to play some games and then maybe next season it will be a different story."

"From his comments, this lad certainly has his head screwed on properly onto his shoulders."

"Lets hope we dont loan him out. If the same scenario happens again we will be a keeper short. I know he wants games under his belt but we need the cover, imagine he had gone two weeks ago. We would have been up the creek without a paddle. Tom Heaton may argue that, but still."
