Guti would welcome Ronaldo

Real Madrid playmaker Guti insists the arrival of top transfer target Cristiano Ronaldo would not disrupt team spirit at the Bernabeu.

The Manchester United winger has been linked with a lucrative move all summer and would likely be one of the highest earners at the Bernabeu should a transfer go ahead.

Yesterday Real captain Raul refuted suggestions Ronaldo's arrival and wage packet would upset the harmony of the squad, and Guti has followed suit, endorsing the winger as one of the best players in the world.

"Real Madrid need good players and Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player you can bring in right now," Guti said at a press conference.

"We would be delighted to have him. He wouldn't upset the good atmosphere, and anyway people tell me he's a great person and a good team player.

"Everyone works to earn as much as they can get and if he's one of the best players in the world he should earn more.

"Maybe he won't win you the Champions League on his own, but he's very tricky and he'll win you games. With players like that you've always got chances to win plenty of titles."

Guti would also welcome unsettled Barcelona forward Samuel Eto'o back to Madrid if a move is sealed.

Eto'o has been told he can leave the Nou Camp this summer, and although he is reportedly the subject of interest from Real, it would be a controversial move for the player who left on a sour note in 2000.

"He did it before (play for Madrid) and he's one of the greats of football," Guti said of Eto'o.

"I have a great friendship with him, he's a great player and a good person. If he comes he'll bring a lot to the side. He's a great player and Real Madrid always sign great players."

Guti also believes the Bernabeu crowd would welcome the Cameroon international back - despite him once publicly expressing his disdain for the club who shunned him early in his career.

"Madrid fans are very understanding and if Samuel does things well and scores a lot of goals then we'll all be happy," Guti said.
