Latics boss Steve Bruce and Boro counterpart Gareth Southgate have both been targeting the forward, who has scored eight goals this season, in January's transfer window, but McCormack ended up staying at Fir Park.

The former Rangers player is expected to move in the summer after his contract expires, although he claims staying is "always a possibility".

He said: "I have been speaking to a couple of clubs lately. There are a couple of (English) Premier League teams and a good few Championship teams so we will see what is the best."
