Crouch debut in Pompey victory

Peter Crouch made his second Portsmouth debut as the FA Cup winners defeated Swindon Town 3-1 at the County Ground.

Crouch: Second-half substitute

Signed from Liverpool earlier this month, Crouch was a second-half substitute against the League One side, but was unable to open his account.

Swindon took an early lead when Simon Cox converted from the penalty spot after he had been bundled over by Noe Pamarot.

Cox then had a goal chalked off for offside before Pompey drew level on 36 minutes when Hermann Hreidarsson scored after being played in by trialist OJ Koroma.

Pompey were in front five minutes later when Jermain Defoe tucked away a spot-kick after Koroma had been brought down by Swindon keeper Peter Brezovan.

Defoe made way for Crouch at the interval and the club's record signing headed narrowly wide midway through the second half.

Harry Redknapp's side wrapped up the win in the closing moments when Ben Sahar's cross was glanced home by fellow substitute Danijel Subotic.
