Ramos targets top four for Spurs

Tottenham boss Juande Ramos believes his side can challenge the top four for a place in the Champions League next season.

Ramos is determined to transform the club into serious contenders for a place in the top four next season after a disappointing league campaign this term.

The Spaniard has done an impressive job during his short time at White Hart Lane, helping them to win the Carling Cup and he plans changes in the summer to try and help the club reach their targets.

"I believe that Tottenham should be competing with the top four," said Ramos. "To achieve that we need to fix a few things and we cannot remain in the lower half of the table," added the determined former Sevilla manager.

"We are analysing the players every day in training and in the games they are playing. But I believe we already know what staff we want for next year.

"My obligation is to let the club know which players we need and the club then puts this into practice if they can. I am completely supported by the club and there is a direct and clear communication on the best way to achieve this.

"You are always thinking about what you are going to do for next season and the time for putting that into practice will be during pre-season.

"There has been a tremendous improvement in the players. We tried to change things that were not right. I accept there are different cultures, but we try to take advantage of the good things in each country.

"We have had a very positive first season. We have achieved a lot in a short space of time. When we arrived the team was in a difficult and uncomfortable position.

"But we started to play some good football and people began to believe in the work we were doing."
