Tottenham midfielder Teemu Tainio has admitted he would be interested in joining Sunderland after holding talks with Roy Keane.
Tainio held transfer talks with Black Cats boss Keane last weekend after Sunderland agreed deals with Spurs for the Finn and White Hart Lane team-mates Pascal Chimbonda, Steed Malbranque and Younes Kaboul.
Keane is hopeful of concluding moves for the quartet as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new season and Tainio has given him encouragement by suggesting a move to the Stadium of Light would be appealing.
The former Auxerre ace admits he is flattered that Manchester United legend Keane is keen to bring him to Wearside.
"Of course it's flattering that such a legend would like me to play in his team," Tainio told Ilta Sanomat.
"Sunderland and Tottenham agreed to the transfer for the common interest and Sunderland would be an interesting option.
"The first impression was good but the transfer still has a course to run. My negotiations are still taking place.
"Sunderland have a great stadium as well as tremendous fans.
"I understand they are interested in playing me in the centre of midfield."

"A solid player - no frills but sometimes that's what you need to balance the flair players. He did his job, did it well and you never heard him complain no mattter how often he was sat on the bench or played out of position. Chapeau to the man, and good travels."
