Ramos happy with Spurs quality

Juande Ramos insists his Spurs squad has more quality than when he arrived - despite the departure of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane.

Ramos: Happy with his squad

Berbatov and Keane were instrumental in winning the Carling Cup four months after Ramos was recruited from Sevilla a year ago, but they have since left for Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.

Roman Pavlyuchenko has been bought from Spartak Moscow to take Berbatov's number nine jersey, and Ramos is also looking for his side's creativity to come from Luka Modric, who was signed from Dinamo Zagreb.

"I have little doubt that we have a squad of greater overall quality now than when I began at this club a year ago," Ramos said.

"And by the end of the season our results will have proved this to be the case.

"I know there is much debate about our striker options, but I look at the whole picture and not just a like-for-like exchange.

"I want creativity and attacking flair from many parts of the pitch."

Fraizer Campbell has been signed on loan as part of the Berbatov deal, and Ramos wants to utilise the youngster's speed.

"Fraizer Campbell brings us pace, power and he's a very good goalscorer," Ramos told www.tottenhamhotspur.com.

"He has a good workrate and is a handful for defenders, not for the same reasons as Roman, but because of his lightning pace.

"On top of that, he's a natural goalscorer as we saw last season during his time on loan at Hull City. When you've got the ability, it gives you self-belief, and that's what he's got."

"Well said boneil. I'd like to see spurs take a real back seat from all the media hype and sensationalism for the next few seasons. Let's forget the drama and concentrate on the football!"

"Every day i thank God for Newcastle. No matter how much of a mess Spurs get themselfs into i can always rely in Newcastle putting a smile on my face. The fans loved it when Ashley arrived cause they thought he would throw money at the team. Now he hasn't they hate him. They should be more worried that the only manager they could attract last time was Keegan who had been out of football for years. Any Owner who wears a football top to a game with his belly, is an idiot and don't get me started on the dennis wise appointment my sides are still sore with laugher.!"

"yea we'll be fine, i hope pavyluchenko finds his feet in the prem quickly, im glad wev a manager who understands the directof of football role and can work with that, no worries of ramos quitting us!"

"jazza0707 - I agree, too many players in and out of Tottenham Hotspur recently, its no wonder that we have all this hype and expectation but it comes to nothing year upon year! I think Ramos may have it right now though.... Wait and see next May I guess??????"

jazza0707 (Aston Villa fan)

"Certainly more attacking flair in midfield and a slightly better defense, it would be better for Spurs to stop buying and selling for a while though and let the squad gel. I think we may have this problem this season with 7 new faces."
