West Bromwich Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo has been boosted by the news that Joe Mattock's foot injury is not as bad as first feared.
The Baggies left-back was stretchered off half an hour into Saturday's 4-1 win against Bristol City, after a robust challenge from Nicky Maynard.
But a scan has revealed that Mattock suffered heavy bruising to his right foot, but no fracture.
Baggies medical staff will now assess the defender throughout the week with Saturday's clash at Sheffield Wednesday in mind.
Mattock has been a Championship ever-present in the Albion defence since making his league debut in the second game of the season.
