The 32-year-old old striker, who joined the Robins from Coventry at the end of the January transfer window, spent a season at Palace prior to his switch to the Sky Blues in June 2003.

Palace are the only team in the play-offs that City failed to beat during the regular season.

Gary Johnson's side recorded 2-1 victories and goalless draws against both Hull and Watford, while losing 2-0 and drawing 1-1 in their games against the Londoners.

Ahead of Saturday's first leg at Selhurst Park, Adebola said: "I was only there a year but it was quite an enjoyable time for me and I know it is going to be a very difficult game.

"It is going to be a very interesting match-up. Obviously we played them a couple of times in the league and they were very difficult games too.

"We didn't manage to beat them then, but we are very confident heading down there.

"We dominated in the game at Ashton Gate earlier this season, but you have got to find a finish or not concede and we only came out with a point when we thought we could have had more. We have got to make any dominance we have this time count.

"The first leg is massive. We have got to go down there and try to keep it as close as possible. Obviously we would be delighted if we got a win but a draw would be a good result as well.

"At home we are fantastic so if we could get them here on those terms that would be great."

The Nigerian admits City are still disappointed at not managing to secure automatic promotion after being in the top two for much of the season.

He insists the players must put everything into the two matches against Palace to ensure they have no regrets and are not left reflecting on what might have been.

"You can't leave anything in the dressing room. You have got to put everything into them otherwise you will be disappointed," said Adebola.

"These games are massive. If we get to the final that will look after itself.

"We have been looking forward to this for a while. With the disappointment of not getting automatic promotion this is a chance for us to put in maximum effort to achieve promotion."
