Sturrock: Watching potential new signings

Sturrock was in buoyant, upbeat mood - if already a little travel-weary - but confident that he can unearth some gems, either in this country or abroad in the coming month.

To that end he will accompany chief scout Andy King to two games over the weekend to cast his critical eye over two players that have been recommended to him by his travelling companion.

Sturrock said: "It has been a hectic week. I have watched so many games and so many players names have been chucked at me.

"And I like to see the players once minimum, preferably twice, before I make a decision on them. I have been careering around the country - and out of the country - trying to get to see as many of the players.

"Over the next few weeks the rest of the leagues will close down because of the European Championship, which means we have got to batter out a few treks."
