McLeish refutes Fletcher move talk

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish has refuted speculation that Blues could move for Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher.

Fletcher: No Blues bid
Fletcher: No Blues bid

Fletcher is often linked with a move away from Old Trafford over his lack of playing time due to the fierce quality and competition for places in Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

Blues were linked with a move loan move for the Scotland international in January, although McLeish does not believe the club have the finances to secure the 24-year-old permanently.

"We don't have money for players like Darren, no way do I think we could do a deal like that," he told the Birmingham Mail.

"It would be too much for us, we don't have the capacity for a deal of that magnitude."

"papa - he does that when he plays at anfield!"

"er then i think hez better off staying at utd where he can play against players of the "same standard of ability" such as those from liverpool. with the exception of gerrard, torres n keane of cuz. sometimes i wonder why fergie bothers to field a full-strength side against pool; itz a great chance for utd to use fringe players like fletch cuz itz bound to be a 6-pointer against the perrenial losers anyways, we need to save our top players for the big games against the arse n chelsea."

"papa he does that twice a year against your lot already."
