TEAMtalk's James Marshment, Mark Holmes, Matty Briggs and Jon Holmes polish their crystal balls and give us their predictions for this season.
JAMES MARSHMENT
Premier League top six (in order): Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Portsmouth.
Two seasons without a title is too long for Roman Abramovich and I expect Big Phil Scolari to mount a successful charge this term. United, however, will miss Ronaldo's input early on and the lack of a third strike option could bite them on the backside this term. Liverpool should improve and could finish closer to the top two than they have done in years.
Bottom three: Blackburn, West Brom, Hull.
The three promoted sides are obviously destined to be battling the drop, but I think West Brom's decision to let Kevin Phillips go could be costly. Stoke's style could ensure a few shock results and be enough to survive, but Blackburn could be the season's surprise strugglers.
Leading goalscorer: Jermain Defoe
Championship top six (in order): Birmingham, Sheffield Utd, Derby, Swansea, Crystal Palace, Reading.
The addition of Phillips and Marcus Bent to Birmingham's ranks, together with the guile of McFadden and Larsson, should fire them to title glory. I think Sheffield United could surprise many, while Swansea will outplay many at this level and will be very hard to beat at home.
Bottom three: Plymouth, Coventry, Blackpool.
Simon Grayson did a fantastic job in keeping Blackpool up last term, but a repeat performance seems unlikely and the loss of key defender Kaspars Gorkss will hit them hard. Plymouth have steadily lost a number of their star performers over the past 12 months and haven't replaced them. Coventry could be the surprise strugglers this term and with spiralling financial issues, it could be a tough year for the Sky Blues.
Leading goalscorer: James Beattie
SPL top three: Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen.
Bottom: Hamilton.
League One top two: Leeds, Southend.
Bottom four: Yeovil, Leyton Orient, Hereford, Stockport.
League Two top three: Chesterfield, Darlington, Bradford.
Bottom two: Luton, Dagenham.
MARK HOLMES
Premier League top six (in order): Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Portsmouth, Spurs.
Chelsea will go close but I expect Carlos Tevez and Anderson to really deliver for United this season. Liverpool will probably last the pace more than usual but neither them or Arsenal are quite good enough. Spurs will improve, but Pompey's buys could get them fifth.
Bottom three: West Brom, Wigan, Hull.
It's going to be a struggle for all three promoted teams but I'll stick my neck on the line, prepare for the abuse, and tip Stoke to survive. Hull's buys have been largely poor, though, and West Brom's expansive style could see them suffer.
Leading goalscorer: Fernando Torres.
Championship top six (in order): Birmingham, Wolves, Reading, Derby, Crystal Palace, Cardiff.
Birmingham should never have gone down, so they should run away with the title. Reading and Derby will do well too, but I'm repeating my annual trick of tipping Wolves for automatic promotion. Cardiff's pre-season suggests they're in for a good season too.
Bottom three: Plymouth Argyle, Doncaster, Blackpool.
I'm struggling to find three teams worse than Plymouth in a very competitive Championship so am tipping them for the drop, although a few signings could change that. Doncaster are the worst-equipped of the three promoted sides and I'd be very surprised if Blackpool stay up.
Leading goalscorer: Robert Earnshaw.
SPL top three: Rangers, Celtic, Motherwell.
Bottom: Hamilton.
League One top two: Leeds, Carlisle.
Bottom four: Walsall, Yeovil, Cheltenham, Crewe,
League Two top three: Bradford, Bournemouth, Darlington.
Bottom two: Aldershot, Luton.
MATTY BRIGGS
Premier League top six (in order): Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Portsmouth.
Chelsea look stronger this season and I expect them to push United all the way come May. Robbie Keane will help Liverpool into third place and Tottenham's new-look side will see them finish fifth with Harry Redknapp's Pompey - who are getting stronger every season - finishing sixth.
Bottom three: Stoke, Hull City, West Brom.
The promoted trio have found it hard to attract big names this season and it's hard to find any established top-flight clubs who will finish below them this season. A good start will be vital for the trio if they are to compete with the likes of Bolton and Fulham.
Leading goalscorer: Peter Crouch.
Championship top six (in order): Birmingham, Ipswich, Derby, Wolves, Sheff Utd, Swansea.
Birmingham have the firepower to return to the Premier League at the first attempt, while Ipswich are tipped to sort out their away form to finish as runners-up. Paul Jewell has shaken up the Derby squad and they can finish in the play-offs along with Wolves, Sheffield United and new boys Swansea.
Bottom three: Watford, Forest, Blackpool.
Aidy Boothroyd's Watford empire is crumbling fast and a season of struggle looks likely. New boys Nottingham Forest will have to make the step up quickly, but the lack of new recruits could cost them, while Blackpool struggled last term and they look doomed this season.
Leading goalscorer: Kevin Phillips.
SPL top three: Celtic, Rangers, Motherwell.
Bottom: Hamilton
League 1 top two: Carlisle, Leeds,
Bottom four: Crewe, Bristol Rovers, Hereford, Cheltenham.
League 2 top three: Bradford, Chesterfield, Lincoln.
Bottom two: Aldershot, Luton Town.
JON HOLMES
Premier League top six (in order): Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool, Tottenham, Aston Villa.
Flamini is a big miss for Arsenal but if Wenger can replace him and has better luck on the injury front, Arsenal will have a stronger finish. The Ronaldo affair could hamper United if he sulks his way through the season. The gap from first to fourth was 11 points in 2006/7, and I expect it to get even slimmer - but whether Chelsea or Liverpool can finish higher, I'm not so sure.
Bottom three: West Brom, Stoke, Hull.
I expect those teams who weren't far from the drop last season - namely Bolton, Fulham, Sunderland and Wigan - to have strengthened significantly by the end of August. I've been less than impressed with the newcomers' additions or their pre-season results so it's goodbye to all of them I'm afraid.
Leading goalscorer: Didier Drogba.
Championship top six (in order): Birmingham, Cardiff, Reading, Ipswich, Charlton, Bristol City.
Birmingham have a canny Scot in charge in McLeish whose sides can usually scrap and play a bit of football. McCormack looks a great buy for Cardiff but Reading may fall just short and Ipswich are on the rise. Alan Pardew is under pressure at Charlton but should get it right this year, while Gary Johnson could get City back into the play-offs.
Bottom three: Norwich, Doncaster, Blackpool.
Blackpool survived by only two points last season and haven't really pushed on, while Doncaster play some great football but have a tough start fixtures-wise. As for Norwich - I have never been convinced by Glenn Roeder and I just feel they are going to struggle. Plymouth have lost a lot of key
men so look bound to struggle - but I can't bring myself to tip them for relegation.
Leading goalscorer: Ross McCormack.
SPL top three: Celtic, Rangers, Dundee Utd.
Bottom: Hamilton.
League 1 top two: MK Dons, Leicester.
Bottom four: Cheltenham, Walsall, Yeovil, Swindon.
League 2 top three: Wycombe, Port Vale, Gillingham.
Bottom two: Chester, Luton.

"JON HOLMES - Arsenal 2 win the prem?? you must be joking. No dis-respect to arsenal - they are a good team, but i don't think that they are as strong as United or Chelsea. And Swindon for the drop??? Watch us prove you wrong!"

"must admit, wenger is class and i think he has what it takes to surprise everyone!! however im not so convinced with his signings and the fact 2 quality players in hleb and flamini have left.. but saying that he also has got in .. nasri (amazing yet to develop and matture) and ramsay. that walshire guy looks good too! "
asif_79 (Manchester United fan)
"i just love it when United get written off... they end up winning with style!
Anderson, Tevez, Nani and Owen all in their 2nd seasons and more gelled into the team with last years experience (portsmouth fa cup game, loosing to bolton away etc) will only make them stronger than last year! so what does that tell us about united forthcoming season? Treble might be on!!! Chelsea: New manager, new players, desperate owner..hmm can i sense some pressure? Liverpool > Same manager and again overrated buys.. Premiership winnner.. i dont think so.. and finally Arsenal > Too many out too many in.. maybe 4th place battling with spurs who also have too many in and out! portsmouth might surprise us by coming into 4th place ... clever buys from Harry!! "

"LOL, Arsenal are a much weaker team than last year, in terms of depth, I think Portsmouth have a better all round squad. Drogba is injured and it looks as if Scolari prefers Anelka in Attack after his 4 goals against Milan. I'm tipping Arsenal for 5th or 6th this season!"
