Birmingham new boy Quincy Owusu-Abeyie is keen to settle down in England and establish himself after two turbulent years since leaving Arsenal.
The Dutch-born Ghana international winger, now 22, signed for the Championship promotion favourites this week on loan from Spartak Moscow.
Owusu-Abeyie struggled in Russia and had a spell on loan at Spanish second division side Celta Vigo after leaving Arsenal in search of regular first-team football.
But after joining Alex McLeish's side on an initial half-season loan - with a view to a permanent move - he admits he is keen to put down roots.
"It is time for me to settle in one place and the best place for me settle is England," he told Blues' website ahead of the season opener against Sheffield United at St Andrews on Saturday.
"I went to Arsenal when I was 16 and left when I was 18 - that is a young age and I didn't really do enough to show what I was capable of and I wasn't focused enough at that time.
"But I have matured now, I'm 22 and I want to make the most of this second opportunity to play in England and prove myself.
"I had a couple of chances in the Carling Cup and FA Cup and I started one game in the Premiership for Arsenal against Portsmouth.
"But it's not easy to break through at Arsenal because there have been a lot of great players there, the likes of Jermaine Pennant and David Bentley.
"You want to play first-team football but if it's not working then you just have to look at the bigger picture and make that step to move on."
McLeish's side take on the Blades in the 12.45pm kick-off while at 3pm Crystal Palace play Watford, QPR host Barnsley, Derby play promoted Doncaster, Charlton take on last season's League One champions Swansea and Wolves go to Plymouth.
Blackpool host Bristol City, Southampton go to Cardiff, Coventry welcome Norwich to the Ricoh Arena, Ipswich play Preston and Burnley are away to Sheffield Wednesday.
