O'Driscoll slams Championship

Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll has criticised the quality of Championship football and thinks a lot of teams in the league are "functional".

O'Driscoll: Rovers struggling

O'Driscoll has always stuck by a strict passing philosophy at the Keepmoat Stadium and despite languishing at the bottom of the table, he thinks more teams should adopt a similar strategy.

He told the Daily Mail: "If you want to play pure football, it is difficult because a lot of teams are functional.

"They will beat you on a set play or you'll have the majority of possession and suddenly switch off because the opposition are used to grinding out results week in, week out.

"There are others in the division who want to play like Roberto Martinez at Swansea.

"You've got to have a balance at times, play football when the opposition allow you to."
