Blackwell slams transfer window

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has called for the January transfer window to be scrapped claiming it causes managers to make mistakes.

Blackwell is expected to make at least one new signing during the one-month window and could also encourage the sale of some of his fringe players.

However, he thinks that managers are rushed into making miscalculated decisions over new signings as they prepare for the second half of the season.

He told The Star: "This isn't always the best time to do business. If it was up to me then I'd get rid of the whole thing, I'm not a fan of it whatsoever.

"Because everything is done in such a rush you often see people make rash decisions about wages and then realise they've made a massive mistake later on. They act in haste and repent at leisure."
