Tykes enter race to sign striker Lee

Barnsley are trying to pip League One outfit Norwich to the signature of unsettled Crystal Palace striker Alan Lee.

The 30-year-old spent the end of last season at Carrow Road and has held talks about a permanent switch, but Eagles boss Neil Warnock does not expect the move to materialise.

"We're a long way short of doing a deal - I can't see a move to Norwich coming off," Warnock told the South London Press.

"Firstly the fee is nowhere near what we value him at, and their wage offer is nowhere near what Alan is getting.

"Alan wants to go there but he and his agent are not daft - if Norwich can't come up with the goods they will have to look at other options. We have had an offer from Barnsley."
