Pogatetz closer to Boro comeback

Austria defender Emanuel Pogatetz could be ready to return to action by the end of the month, according to Middlesbrough coach Steve Agnew.

Pogatetz was sidelined for the latter part of last season after surgery on both knees but is now back running.

Agnew told the club's official website: "He's looking good and is beginning to do more with the ball. I'm not sure on the timescale, though. Maybe in two or three weeks he'll return to playing."

But Agnew revealed defender Chris Riggott has suffered "a couple of setbacks" in his recovery from an operation to repair ankle ligament damage while midfielder Gary O'Neil could feature against Ipswich on Saturday following a hernia operation.
