Adams blames fatigue for poor show

Brighton boss Micky Adams admitted his side looked "tired" as they struggled to a 1-1 draw with newly-promoted Blue Square Premier side Lewes.

Adams' side have endured a hectic pre-season schedule and it took a late goal from Doug Loft to save Adams' men from what would have been their first defeat of the summer.

He told the club's official website: "We looked very tired, very leggy and had no sharpness at all, but that's what we expect. We've plenty to work on.

"We're at the stage we should be, and I felt that the first three weeks of pre-season have actually caught up with us.

"I don't think we deserved to lose the game, but we certainly didn't do enough to win it. All-in-all we're pleased with the workout."
