Bellamy to train with Bluebirds

West Ham striker Craig Bellamy will spend next week training with Cardiff in a bid to regain full fitness in time for Wales' summer friendlies.

An abdominal injury has limited Bellamy to just eight West Ham starts all season and he has not played since coming off the bench against Wigan on February 2.

But he is back in full training and will head down to Cardiff next week as the Bluebirds prepare for the FA Cup final against Portsmouth.

West Ham manager Alan Curbishley said: "Craig Bellamy is in full training and has been doing everything. We're going to hopefully continue that.

"Obviously we finish at the weekend but kindly (Cardiff manager) Dave Jones has allowed Craig to train with them for a week as they prepare for the cup game so he can get another week's football in."

If all goes well, Bellamy could be considered for Wales' friendlies against Iceland on May 28 and Holland the following Sunday.

But Bellamy will certainly expect to be fit for Wales' friendly against Georgia in August and the World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan in September.

And Curbishley is anxious to get the club's record signing back in the claret and blue after West Ham saw only flashes of Bellamy at his best during the current campaign.

Bellamy scored four times and Curbishley said: "I want to get him and Dean Ashton together."
