Clinton Morrison almost favoured a reunion with former Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy at Wolves over a move to Coventry.
The 29-year-old, who was released by Crystal Palace in the summer, revealed that Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman persuaded him to join the Ricoh Arena outfit.
"Wolves were interested and Mick McCarthy is a very good manager, and I'm not going to lie, it was a difficult decision," Morrison told the Sunday Mercury.
"But after meeting Chris Coleman my head wasn't going to be turned and I fancied going to Coventry. I thought Coventry had the ability to do some good things and that was my mind made up basically.
"I just want to play but I didn't know if I would every week at Wolves. I've got a chance to play most weeks at Coventry and I just want to do well. I know you've got to fight for your position wherever you go but the manager here was optimistic about taking this club forward.
"At one stage I thought the deal to Coventry was dead, then I thought that maybe I would be going to Wolves. But Chris Coleman did well along with (chairman) Ray Ranson and that's why in the end I showed my appreciation by signing here."

"Not that much of an easy choice, Coleman is a better manager granted but we are a bigger club and had a better season than you lot last year! And do your homework, Freddy IS good enough but he's renowned for bein an absolute nightmare to work with! Don't worry you'll find this out the hard way I'm sure!:)"

"Easy choice - Thick Mick who thought super Freddy Eastwood wasn't good enough for Wolves - or Chris Coleman who incredibly kept Fulham up without investment and his best players being sold each summer!"
