Coleman: Quick response needed

Coventry boss Chris Coleman insists the Sky Blues must go into their Carling Cup tie against Newcastle with a clear mind or risk humiliation.

Coleman: Fears humbling

Coleman saw his team beaten 3-0 at home by Bristol City on Saturday. The afternoon was made worse by injuries to Freddy Eastwood and Keiren Westwood that will rile them out of the second round clash at the Ricoh Arena.

Coleman stressed the importance of banishing all memories of events at the weekend, he said: "We can't be feeling sorry for ourselves.

"If we do and we are off it, and they are on it, we are going to get a hammering unfortunately and we don't want that because that can affect you for a while, especially on the back of a heavy defeat at the weekend.

"I look at the tie against Newcastle and if we had a fully-fit team going into that game it would be lovely. But we haven't and we have got to go into the game and go about our business.

"We respect Newcastle because they are a good team. They have had a good start in the league."
