Holland lambasts Alex defending

Furious Crewe manager Steve Holland blasted his side's defending after they fell to a dramatic 4-3 defeat at home to Southend on Saturday.

Holland: Disappointed

Substitute Anthony Grant grabbed the winning goal for the Shrimpers with two minutes remaining following an error from Julien Baudet, and Holland admitted the result was "difficult to take."

He said: "The goal at the end that has cost us the points was frankly suicide.

"The first thing you teach an under-eight is if he is the last man not to take on the opposing centre-forward and if you do that at this level then there is only one consequence. Almost all the goals today were poor but the fourth one was difficult to take.

"The positives are difficult to focus on after that rollercoaster ride, but the players stuck at it and we played some decent football to get back in it."

"Sounds like Baudet had a nightmare! In some way or another responsible for 3 of the four goals...let Baker take over...he was assistant under D.O:G and would be the natural successor...I am sick of Holland's incompetency and excuses!"
