Wales outcast Robert Earnshaw has been told he can still fight his way back into manager John Toshack's plans.
The Derby striker, currently in talks with Nottingham Forest over a move to the City Ground, has been left out of a second successive Wales squad.
Toshack named 35 players on Thursday for the friendlies in Iceland on May 28 and Holland on June 1.
Earnshaw's name was again omitted, but coach Dean Saunders said: "Earnshaw needs to find a home where he is wanted, have a season without injuries and start banging goals in.
"He is still young enough but there is no doubt that if he plays like we know he can, he will be back in the squad.
"He had some bad injuries, he moved to a club and wasn't playing even while they were losing. That affected his form and confidence.
"When he was joining up with Wales he hadn't played for three weeks and wasn't anywhere near sharp enough.
"He's a good lad, he wants to play for Wales. But it is getting harder and harder to get into the squad now with the amount of young strikers coming through."
Saunders also admitted he is bemused by the continued absence of Sunderland's Danny Collins from the Wales ranks.
Collins opted to concentrate on his Premier League career last season - but it appears he has done that now, with Sunderland securing their top-flight status and the Stadium of Light fans voting him their player of the year.
Saunders said: "The door is still open, we are just waiting for the call.
"He had his reasons for not being involved, he wanted to establish himself at Sunderland. Well, they have stayed up and he has done well.
"But I must admit that nothing stopped me playing for Wales and I cannot understand such problems or arguments. I find it very difficult to understand."
Cardiff's Paul Parry, who has missed several squads for personal reasons, is also named for the trip.
Saunders said: "He has done well for Cardiff this season, he has developed and gives them something extra up front. I would like to see him do that for Wales now."
Toshack's squad includes seven uncapped players, including Cardiff's 17-year-old midfield sensation Aaron Ramsey.
Also in line for their first caps are West Ham's Jack Collison, Manchester City striker Ched Evans and Bournemouth's forward Sam Vokes - who is expected to join a Premier League club this summer.
Bristol Rovers defender Joe Jacobson, Cardiff's Darcy Blake and Doncaster midfielder Brian Stock could also make their international debuts.
Craig Bellamy is back in the squad for the first time after seven months out injured, and is expected to win his 50th cap on the two-match trip.
Saunders said: "Craig has been has been working with Cardiff and doing okay, and West Ham want him on the pitch.
"He hasn't played since October and that has cost them a lot of points. But they want him back and this can help him."
