Jewell to continue spending spree

Derby boss Paul Jewell is targeting a new wide player as he looks to conclude his squad building prior to the new season.

Jewell has already signed 11 players since Derby were relegated from the Premier League last season but still wants more.

"I am looking for another wide player," he told the club's official website: "Someone who can give us a bit of pace and a trick.

"We are still looking to improve all areas of the squad."

The Derby manager warned that there could also be casualties in order to bring in new faces.

He added: "There might be some people who leave to enable some more to come in."

"All well and good but we seriously need another centre half, unless Jewell sees something in Claude Davis and Leacock that I cant. Leacock is okay but needs someone of a good callibre alongside him, I like stubbs but I cant see him staying fit all season. Still the more attacking players the better, it's actually a refreshing change from 1-0 BD! If we beat teams 5-3 no-one will complain this year, we have to bear in mind though that if we do get promoted that kind of football would need to be a bit more sensible in the Premier League! As long as we get another centre half he can buy as many tricky wingers as he likes!!"
