Derby draw line under Gadsby exit

Derby have moved to clarify the situation regarding former chairman Peter Gadsby's departure from the club back in July.

Pride Park: Gadsby left over the summer

Gadsby left Pride Park as non-executive director in the summer, questioning the commitment of club's new American owners. The parting of ways led to a somewhat stormy relationship between himself and Derby during which the multi-millionaire property developer threatened legal action.

But a club statement released by the Championship outfit on Thursday read: "For the avoidance of doubt, Peter's departure should not be taken as a reflection on his ability, performance or commitment to the club.

"His outstanding record of service over a period of 20 years speaks for itself and the club wishes to reiterate its appreciation for Peter's contribution to its success in recent years.

"If there has been any misunderstanding by the public into the circumstances behind Peter's departure then the club would like to apologise to Peter and his family for any distress caused by such misunderstanding.

"The club does not doubt that Peter had the club's and the supporters' best interests at heart."
