Rams in no rush to up Barker ante

Derby chairman of football Adam Pearson says the club will bide their time in their bid to sign Blackpool defender Shaun Barker this summer.

The Rams have had one offer for the 26-year-old turned down by Blackpool, who value Barker in the region of £1million.

Reports claim Derby are set to return with an improved bid but Pearson insists there is no rush.

"It is only the middle of June," he told the Derby Evening Telegraph. "He is a player the manager has said that he likes and is a good centre-half at this level, but we are in no rush and we will continue to monitor the situation.

"He is a local lad and we hope that might be something that is important in terms of moving forward."
