Goalkeeper Simon Royce is adamant Gillingham can win promotion this season despite their disappointing start to their friendly campaign.
The Gills have been beaten by Stevenage and Grays so far in pre-season but Royce is hoping better performances are still to come.
"You don't want to go to Grays and lose or lose at home to Stevenage," said Royce. "Whether it's a league game, a pre-season game or a game on the training ground, I do not like letting goals in.
"If I'm playing in my back garden, I don't like letting them in. You don't like getting beat and that is the attitude we have got to take into this season.
"Hopefully against the stronger opposition to come we might up our game a bit to show the fans we are going to be a decent team in League Two.
"This season is going to be tough as League Two is a tough league to get out of. I cannot see why we cannot go up. We have got the squad so we need to buck our ideas up and push on."
