DJ keen on fresh start with Foxes

Leicester striker DJ Campbell is desperate to make up for lost time after an unhappy couple of years at the Walkers Stadium.

His City career has barely got off the ground since his £1.6million move from Birmingham in July 2007. Within a few weeks the man who signed him, Martin Allen, had been sacked. Since then the 27-year-old has been plagued by injuries and when he has been fit his best form has deserted him and he has struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot.

Any chance of a turnaround in his fortunes as a Leicester player seemed slim when he was loaned to Championship rivals Blackpool last season, but after a chat with Foxes boss Nigel Pearson he is keen to finally make an impression at the Midlands club.

"It's been a bit frustrating not being involved but now I've spoke to the gaffer I'm happy and things are fine," Campbell told BBC Radio Leicester. "I'm back fit and with no injury problems and I have nothing but praise for the gaffer.

"He's always said he wants me involved and now I'm involved, hopefully I can score the goals I know I'm capable of and get Leicester into the Premier League.

"The club and fans haven't seen the real DJ Campbell and when I get a chance to come off the bench I have to take it."
