Plymouth forward George Donnelly has been allowed to train with League One Southampton in a bid to earn a loan deal at the Saints.
Argyle boss Paul Sturrock is anxious for the 21-year-old striker to gain Football League experience with a loan switch.
Sturrock confirmed: "Donnelly is on trial with Southampton. They wanted to have a look at him in their own environment.
"They were very impressed with him when he played against them in a reserves game."
Donnelly has already been out on loan with Blue Square Premier side Luton this season.
